We went camping at Lake Nacimiento last month. It was my first time at the lake and it was perfect. It was hot, very dry, and the area is recovering from a brush fire. All that might not sound perfect but our first vacation this past spring was canceled. Then this summer has been crazier then we could have ever imagined it would be and this trip was canceled because of more reasons out of our control. Finally, just days before we were scheduled to leave the trip was back on. Camping off season and during the week made this camping trip peacefully quiet. Which was a little horror movie eerie the first night. Our campsite was on the Sandy Point grounds and we could see the lake from our tent and many visits from a family of very, very friendly deer. We spent the day exploring and nights around the fire.
